Do I need a visa?
Hungary is a member state of the EU. Moreover, it is also part of the Schengen Area, and applies the Schengen legislation in full. This means that if your home country is part of the Schengen Area, you do not need a visa for your stay during EGG in Debrecen. How do I get from Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport to Debrecen?
After you have landed at Budapest Airport, look for bus number 200E, which will take you to Ferihegy train station, where you can purchase MÁV (Hungarian Railways) tickets from the ticket machines on the platforms. Alternatively, you can also purchase tickets from the ticket office on one of the platforms. We recommend that you buy a 2nd class (full-price) ticket to Debrecen (3690 HUF) and an Intercity (IC) seat reservation ticket (645 HUF).
The IC seat reservation ticket is mandatory on IC trains, which run every hour during the day and stop at Budapest Airport train station (Ferihegy). The train ride between Budapest-Airport and Debrecen is approx. 2 hours and 30 minutes. The last stop before Debrecen is Hajdúszoboszló and it takes about 15 minutes to get to Debrecen Train Station from there.

How do I get to Budapest and from Budapest to Debrecen by train?
Budapest has three main train stations: Nyugati Train Station, Keleti Train Station and Déli Train Station. There are direct trains from Nyugati and Keleti Train Station to Debrecen. The train ride from Keleti Train Station is approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes, and from Nyugati Train Station it is about 2 hours and 40 minutes. If you arrive at Déli Train Station, you should use public transport (metro line 2) to get to Keleti Train Station.

How do I get to Veres Péter Dormitory in Debrecen?
Veres Péter Dormitory is located on the campus of the Centre for Agricultural and Applied Economic Sciences of the University of Debrecen. We recommend that you take tram 2 and get off at Böszörményi út. You can find the tram just outside the train station (tickets are available at newsstands or from the tram driver). The dorm is within a five-minute walk from the tram stop (see map here).
If you fly to Debrecen, take the Airport Bus to Debrecen Train Station, where you can change to tram 2 and get to the dormitory from there.
